Dry-ice pellet blasting

Dry-ice pellet blasting is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution for hard-to-clean machinery. Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide, and is odourless and non-flammable. It removes oils, fats, combustion residue, adhesives, organic materials, soot, anti-rust coatings, polyurethane foam and much more besides. Dedo Jumbo Jet dry ice blasting is particularly suitable for use on delicate surfaces, as the dry ice pellets only remove the layer of grime without damaging what’s underneath.

The process: depending on the dry ice blasting machine used, the pellets are blasted from a special hose onto the surface that is being cleaned at high or low pressure. There are different nozzles and fittings available for cleaning different types of surface. The dry ice pellets can be stored on site for between three and five days in special cool boxes. The high speed at which the pellets are propelled from the hose means that they briefly cool down on impact – this creates tension between the dirt and the surface, causing the dirt particles to come loose.

This cost-effective cleaning method creates no waste to dispose of and is very quick, which means downtime is kept to an absolute minimum. The Dedo Jumbo Jet dry ice blaster’s pressure and throughput (60–180 kg/hour) can also be tailored to the type of grime and the surface in question, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. As a result, it’s also possible to clean delicate materials such as wood, plastic and even control panels and electrical components. The blaster is also very compact which makes it perfect for getting to hard-to-reach places.
